Hatton Adventure World

Have you ever dreamed of being a magician? As part of our magic week here at Hatton during February half term, we thought we could teach you a super easy magic trick that’s perfect for beginners. The best part? You don’t need any fancy props—just a coin and your hands!
The Disappearing Coin Trick
This trick is fun, simple, and will leave your audience scratching their heads. Let’s get started!
What You’ll Need :
– 1 coin (any size will do)
– A flat surface like a table or countertop
– Your hands and a little practice!
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Preparation (The Secret Move!)
Before you perform the trick, secretly practice this move:
Hold the coin in one hand, and as you pretend to transfer it to the other hand, let it
slide back into your original hand. This is called “palming the coin.” Your audience will think it’s in your other hand!
2. Start the Trick
Hold the coin in your dominant hand and show it to your audience. Say something like, “Watch closely as I make this coin disappear!”
3. The Disappearing Act
Pretend to place the coin into your other hand, but instead, keep it hidden in the palm of your original hand. Close the fingers of the empty hand as if you’re holding the coin.
4. The Magical Moment
Wave your empty hand (the one they think has the coin) over the table or blow on it for extra flair. Then slowly open your hand to reveal… it’s empty! The coin is gone!
5. The Big Reveal
For a fun finish, you can make the coin “reappear” from behind someone’s ear or out of your pocket. Pretend to pull it out and say, “Oh, look what I found!”
Tips :
– Practice in front of a mirror to make sure your moves look smooth and convincing.
– Don’t rush. Take your time and act confident—it’s all about making your audience believe in the magic.
– Distract your audience. Use a big smile, eye contact, or say something funny to keep them focused on your face, not your hands.
Why Kids Love This Trick
This trick is perfect for kids because it’s simple to learn but looks super impressive! Plus, it’s a great way to build confidence and have fun entertaining family and friends.
Now it’s your turn to become the star magician! Try this trick at home and watch your audience gasp in amazement. Remember, the secret to magic is practice—and never revealing how the trick works! AND DON’T FORGET to join us this February half term for our magic week! Find out more here 🪄✨
